Finding the right podcast episodes just got a whole lot easier. Podchaser Pro now includes transcripts in episode search, allowing you to discover episodes based on the actual words spoken—not just the title and description.

For PR professionals, brand marketers, journalists, and researchers, this means no more guesswork. If a podcast discusses a topic, a person, or a brand—even if it’s not in the episode title—you can now find it instantly.

Why This Matters

Until now, searching for podcast episodes was limited by how well creators labeled their content in podcast and episode titles and descriptions. If a key topic was discussed but never made it into the episode title or description, it was nearly impossible to find. That led to missed opportunities for tracking media coverage, researching trends, or discovering conversations that mattered.

With transcripts in search, Podchaser Pro users can now:

• Find episodes mentioning specific people, brands, or topics—even if they aren’t in the title.
• Uncover timely discussions on media, politics, technology, and more.
• Track earned media coverage for PR and brand monitoring.
• Search through actual spoken content for deeper discovery.

How Podcast Episode Transcripts in Search Works

A new “Include Transcripts” toggle in episode search lets Pro users refine results, surfacing transcript matches alongside traditional metadata-based search. Matching snippets appear in search results for quick context, and relevance sorting now factors in transcript mentions, metadata, and Podchaser’s proprietary Power Score. Plus, users can click into full transcripts for even deeper research.

For non-Pro users? You’ll still have access to traditional episode search, but transcript search will be exclusive to Pro, with an upgrade prompt to unlock its full potential.

More Enhancements for a Better Search Experience

To make discovery even smoother, we’ve also introduced:

• Full-width search and browse pages for improved visibility on desktop.
• Highlighted search terms in results, with secondary matches appearing in a different color for better readability.
• An updated transcript UI, making it easier than ever to scan, read, and search within transcripts.

• Do I have to select “include transcripts” every time?
  • No, the browser should remember your last used preference and default to that.
• Is this just searching transcripts?
  • No, it searches transcripts, episode titles, and episode descriptions like we do with alerts. The relevancy sort does prioritize transcript mentions so the results should mostly have transcript matches.
• Is this searching all mentions?
  • No, it is providing a non-exhaustive mentions search and returning episodes with that search. The goal is not mention searching but better episode discovery for Pro users.
• Does it work with Boolean search
  • Yes! More on Boolean search
• How long are the transcript snippets in results?
  • The transcripts snippets in results are not meant to be every mention in the episode, but rather a preview. Users can click the transcript to view the full transcript where they can search for the mention.
• How many episodes have transcripts?
  • More than 4m and we add over 250k new episode transcripts per month.
• Which podcasts are we transcribing?
  • The Top 24k podcasts. More on Podchaser’s transcript coverage
• What’s it mean when it says “no matches” or “no transcript available”?
  • “No matches” means we have a transcript but the transcript does not have the search term in the transcript. 
  • “No transcript available” means we don’t have a transcript at all.
  • These may show up in results when the title and description matches are strong.
• What if the results are bad?
  • The new full-width search/browse page includes a “send feedback” button in the toolbar.
